BOLT UP! · TOWER JUMP

Privacy policy

Last updated: 2 October 2026

Bolt Up! never asks for your real name, your email address, your phone number or a password. There is no sign-up form. This page explains the data that is involved anyway, why, and how to get rid of it.

1. Your account

The first time you open the game it creates an anonymous account for you automatically, so your progress can be saved and restored if you change phone. You supply no credentials. The account is held by a token stored on your device, and it is identified by a random id.

When you start, the game asks you to choose a display name. It is attached to the same account and is shown publicly on the leaderboard, next to your best height, level and chosen robot. It does not need to be your real name, and it should not be.

If you are signed in to Google Play Games on your phone, the game links your account to it automatically, so the same account follows you to another device signed in to the same Google account. For this we store your Play Games player id and Play Games display name. You can sign out of it in the game's Settings.

2. What is saved to our server

Your game progress is synced to our database so it survives a reinstall. It contains only game state:

Each time the game syncs, we also note the date, so we can see how many people play each day, and the time of your most recent sync.

Some of this is public by design. Your display name, level, robot, best height and the world you reached are shown on the leaderboard, and anyone can read them through the game's public data, together with your random account id, when your name was set or changed, and the time, flips and bolts of your best run. Your save, the days you played and your purchases can only be read by you and by us.

Your device settings (sound, control scheme, button size, left-handed mode) are deliberately not synced. They are preferences about a phone, not about you.

The database is hosted by Supabase. Apart from the public leaderboard data above, rows are protected so that a player can only read and change their own.

3. Advertising

The game uses Google AdMob to show rewarded video ads only. They are always optional: you choose to watch one in exchange for a revive, extra bolts, progress towards a robot, or a Bolt Lab discount. There are no banners, no pop-ups, and nothing that interrupts a run.

Where the law requires it, for example in the European Economic Area and the UK, the game asks for your consent through Google's consent form before it shows ads.

To serve those ads, Google may collect and use:

We never receive any of this ourselves; it goes to Google. See Google Privacy & Terms and the AdMob policies.

You can turn personalised ads off on Android under Settings → Privacy → Ads, where you can also delete or reset your advertising ID. The game keeps working exactly the same; the ads just become less relevant.

4. Purchases

In-app purchases are handled entirely by Google Play Billing. We never see or store your card details, billing address, or any payment information.

We do store the purchase token Google issues for each completed purchase, together with which pack it was. This is required: it is how the game knows a purchase has already been granted and refuses to grant it twice. For that reason a spent token is kept even if you delete your account, but it is unlinked from you at that point and can no longer be traced back to an account.

5. Deleting your data

You can delete your account and everything attached to it from inside the game, under Settings → Delete account. The steps are also on this page. It removes your progress, your display name, your leaderboard entry, the record of the days you played, any Play Games link, and the account itself. It takes effect immediately and cannot be undone.

Uninstalling the game removes the local copy on your device, but not the server copy. Use the delete option for that.

6. Children

Bolt Up! is rated 3+ on Google Play, meaning its content suits every age, but it is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because the game shows ads, Google receives the advertising data described in section 3. If you are a parent or guardian and would rather that did not happen, turn off ad personalisation and reset the advertising ID in Android's Settings → Privacy → Ads.

7. This website

This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics of its own. The leaderboard on it is read from our server without any names. The trailer is a YouTube video: nothing loads from YouTube until you press play, and it then plays from youtube-nocookie.com under Google's privacy policy.

8. Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.

9. Contact
